Chimney Chase Covers
Protect prefab chimneys from water and damage.
If you have a factory-built (prefab) chimney, you likely have a chimney chase cover. A chase cover is a metal cover at the top of your chimney. It seals the chase where the chimney pipe runs through.
These covers prevent water and animals from entering the chase. They also provide support to the chimney pipe to prevent it from sagging or becoming loose.
Some factory-built chimneys have chase covers and caps that are attached, while others have them separated. If your chase cover is rusting, leaking, or damaged, it should be replaced.
